G is for Growth Mindset

G is for Growth Mindset

If at First You Don’t Succeed…

When we first set out to create our products, growth mindset was something which we sought to promote. Having a growth mindset is so important for children (and adults alike!) because essentially it is what enables us to get over those hurdles which life has a habit of throwing at us. And not only get over them, but learn (sometimes from our mistakes), improve and succeed through determination, resilience and hard work! It teaches us not to give up and boy there are many times when we’ve felt like giving up but it is in those times that having a growth mindset has helped us reach the other side, feeling proud and confident of our achievements! So without further ado, here’s five brands which we love which help to garner a growth mindset…

The Positive Doodle Diary

The Positive Doodle Diary is a mindful journal for children which seeks to empower them through daily gratitude practice, creative doodling and simple journaling. It’s chokka block full of activities designed to help kids aged five to 10 years old explore themes of confidence and resilience (both key elements required for a growth mindset) as well as kindness and even self-care! Yes, everyone needs self-care! Leave them to get their own thoughts and feelings down on paper or use it as an activity to do together. Very excitingly, Stib is going to be stocked by The Positive Planner very soon so you can buy the two together and make your doodle diary look extra colourful! We also love the brand’s ‘I believe in my own ability’ poster print – every child should have this mantra on their wall to remind them that they can do anything they put their mind to! https://www.thepositiveplanners.com/product/the-positive-doodle-diary/

Strong Girls Club

It really is amazing what simply wearing a t-shirt with a positive affirmation can do for you! Maybe not such an obvious entry but the Mutha.Hood goods and in particular their original Strong Girls Club merchandise is designed to empower girls, instilling in them the belief that they can do and be anything they put their mind to! It represents our strength as women to overcome as well as our sense of self-worth which truly does start from the moment that we are born – check out their super cute baby onesies. https://muthahoodgoods.com/collections/kids

My Book of Beautiful Oops!

Contrary to popular belief, mistakes are a way to grow, they are evidence that we are trying and that is super important! Because if we don’t try we’ll never move forwards. And in fact, every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful as exemplified in My Book of Beautiful Oops! This brilliant interactive, hands-on journal invites budding young artists to draw in, paint on, smudge and even tear up its pages! It’s filled with folded, crumpled, die-cut, and lift-the-flap pages fuelling imagination and play, while encouraging self-expression and letting go of that inner critic that is constantly seeking perfection, leaving kids free to create and follow their curiosity wherever that may lead!

You are Awesome

Another fantastic book! I'm no good at sport.... I can't do maths.... I really struggle with exams.... If any of these sound familiar then this is the book for you, or rather your kids! When we believe we can’t do something, the chances are we won’t bother to even try. You are Awesome is a positive and empowering guide written to help instil the confidence in children to excel at anything they put their mind to, helping them to build resilience, fulfil their potential and become successful, happy, awesome adults! From Mozart to Serena Williams, it uses the examples of successful people to show that success is earned rather than given, that talent can be acquired and with hard work and determination, practice and self-belief, and, most importantly a growth mindset, the skies your limit! A journal version is also available.
